In my theory of the chain fountain, I intend to challenge the existing theory proposed by Professor Biggs and Warner of Cambridge university. In it, they claim that the source of the fountain is the result of an anomalous “kick” from the surface which incrementally lifts the chain up, forming the fountain. I intend to show that this is fundamentally incorrect because it would imply that a fountain cannot rise without having a surface under it. My theory proposes that fountains can rise without any kind of surface at all. The key distinction between my theory and theirs is that mine asserts that the energy needed for the formation of the fountain comes directly from the chain itself, and not from some external source such as a surface.
